Is this thing on?

Salutations from GroupSwim! We’re a small group who is passionate about the web and all of the power it affords individuals and communities. While we’re enjoying all the chatter about “Web 2.0” and what it means in the global scope of things, we are more concerned about how people interact with each other and their communities. A lot of the associated Web 2.0 technologies are fun, not because of how they came to be, or how cool they are, but because of what they do to impact the behaviors of people and their communities.

The internet (and all of the creative minds using it) is in a unique period of redefinition. The Blog has proven to be a genesis of this new web. TN20 is harnessing the power of this change for the benefit of both the individual and the community. We are taking some core tenets of the Cluetrain Manifesto. While we are not necessarily addressing the more corporate aspects of the manifesto, we believe it introduces some core truths that can be leveraged outside of the “corporate marketplace” and applied to the many diverse communities on the web.

We’re a young company, fascinated by the power of the community. We have a lot to say, even more ideas and even more to do as we dip our collective toes in the water of the new web. We plan on using this blog as a platform to initiate conversations that are relevant to our area of focus: better communities. We look to these conversations as an opportunity to inform and be informed.

While we still have a little ways to go before we unleash our services on the world, we are way too excited about what we’re doing to remain quiet any longer. TN20 is starting its voice today; let us clear our throats. We are really looking forward to engaging in many discussions with all of you in the future…

Cheers.
Tom

* In Blink, Malcolm Gladwell claims that first impressions are critical; that the first two seconds of looking—the decisive glance that one knows in an instant—is everything. If that is truly the case, we may already be dead in the water. ;-)
